either the difference in how the generations have grown up due to a higher influence of mass media, or how even older women are being affected. The fact that the chosen medium to explore this topic is paint, is something to be addressed as well. There is always the question of why one paints instead of just taking a photo. I find that when one paints, it is an act of contemplation due to the process one goes through in creating an image. Whereas through photo one may be able to capture a moment, a painting can not only express emotion through color choices and texture, but how much the artist has paid attention to different aspects of their model. It shows how the artist has spent time contemplating the individual and in doing so has given them a certain amount of respect in recreating their image with purpose. My hopes are to show beauty that is natural and realistic, but most importantly, to show it in a public arena in hopes that people might consider how different it is growing up with a high media influence that is based on sexuality. I believe that women need to see images as they grow up of females that society thinks are beautiful, and that look just like them. I'm not fighting the fact that sexuality is a natural part of human existence, it would be hypocritical. And it is fact that sex sells. But men and especially girls need a better idea of what beautiful is, and to not grow up feeling like they are naturally less than just that.
